Who would you keep in the game?

Sorry non-Biggest Loser fans. This is something I’ve got to do. I’m curious to know where people stand on the events that have unfolded on this season’s The Biggest Loser.

Here is the situation: We are down to the final 4 contestants, but only 3 can make it into the finals. America gets to decide. Ron and Mike are a Father/Son team. Ron made it clear from the beginning that he was here for his son’s health and would do whatever was it takes to keep him in the game. Ron has done a few shady things to keep Mike in the game and has earned the nicknames “The Godfather” and “Hatchet Man“. Anyway, both Ron and Mike asked America to keep Mike in. Mike actually has a chance of winning the whole thing, where Ron does not.

A similar situation happened last season. It was so fun to watch. It came down to Ed and Heba, a husband and wife, and they both asked America to keep Heba in because it was her dream to be in the finals of The Biggest Loser. Think celebrity status, health product endorsements, more contact with Bob, etc. The problem is that Heba had been a little brat the whole season and America didn’t particularly care for her. So even though they both pleaded to put her through to the finals, America voted for Ed. Classic!

So what do we do with Ron and Mike? Here’s the thing, Ron succeeded in his goal. He claims to be concerned about Mike’s health and not the money ($250,000). Well Mike is healthy. He stayed in the game for as long as anyone could. Mike is only 18 years old and seems to be a pretty nice kid. So do you kick him out to spite his father? You decide!

Personally I want Helen to win. She’s the underdog, and less annoying than Tara. I would be fine if any of the following won the $100,000: Sione, Filipe, Damien, Nicole, or Kristin. Also I’m excited to see Joelle because she is crazy. Also why does it seem like there tends to be a lot of Mormons on the show?

  1. Oh man, where to even start? How about with the fact that you want Helen to win? She is nowhere, not even close to as annoying as Tara. Helen is a whinny brat, who voted off her own daughter!!! How’s that for a happy Mother’s day! And you’ve seen her daughter, still fat, still unhappy. Way to be Helen. Booo!

I hope Tara wins. Yes, she is a whiner as well, and yes she cries at the drop of a hat, but heck man, she is a fighter. And I love a good fighter.

I hated that Mike kept saying he was going to win. What do I hate more than a whiner? Someone who is cocky. But what do I hate more than someone who is cocky? Ron. Just can’t stand the guy. So I voted for Mike. Course, if Mike makes it that will mean that Bob has no contestants in the running for the biggest loser. I wish Bob would train a winner. If Mike wins, that will be okay by me. I still hope Tara wins, but mostly I’m hoping that Helen doesn’t win.

Oh and I want Filippe to win the at-home. That smile is awesome.

Sorry for the novel, but I take my BL very seriously.

  2. I hate Ron, but I like Mike. To be honest I wouldn’t mind if Mike, Helen or Tara wins. I’m not a huge fan of Helen because she was so selfish and stayed on the ranch over her daughter, who is still fat. And why is there always a lot of Mormons on the show? There were at least 4 this year and in years past there is always one. Maybe the producer is Mormon and feels bad that most of us are fat. Can’t wait for tomorrow night!

  3. I think the answer to the Mormon question lies in the fact that Mormons believe Cream of Mushroom soup is it’s own food group. I’m pretty sure it’s in one of the Articles of Faith.

  4. Seriously Scott? Helen? Are you a secret lover of all those who are above and beyond dramatic? She could be watching paint dry and make that look dramatic! But to each their own and if she’s yours, so be it.

I’m for keeping Mike in the game and even winning. Yes with every pound he has shed he has somehow converted it into liquid arrogance. But what 18 year old who just lost over 150 pounds and could possibly win a quarter of a mil wouldn’t take that and run with their attitude? The girls have clearly shown they can hang, note the past two seasons, lets give the little one (guess that’s now a literal statement) a chance.

Oh and as for the Mormon question, can’t really top Donna’s answer so I second that one. Classic.

  5. I’m voting Mike. I’m really not happy with any of the people who are left. I like that Tara beats all the boys in the challenges. But she’s annoying. Mike is young and seems nice enough. Helen is annoying.

I’ve enjoyed watching the progression (or lack thereof) of Ron’s C cup, B cup and A cup stomach. Is it just me or does he just not look that different?

  6. I was so ticked off the night they voted Kristen off that I seriously thought about not watching BL anymore. Mike would have never voted her off except that his dad told him to, which makes him kind of a weenie, but he is only 18 and obviously pretty sheltered.

But I dislike Helen more than both of them. She sacrificed her own daughter to promote herself and Shanon obviously hasn’t done well. Nobody decent does that. A pox on Helen!

Tara is annoying but she looks so dang good. As a former fat girl, I totally felt a kinship with her. I’m hoping for her to take this all the way.

As for the Mormon comment, Donna is right on about this one, and it’s not just the cream of mushroom soup. It’s also the white bread, mayonnaise, baloney, white rice, white noodles, green jello , ranch dressing, thousand island dressing, spam, and beef/pork/turkey/chicken chunks from the can.

And that’s just the ingredients in one pot-luck casserole.

  7. I HATE Helen because she totally put herself ahead of her daughter. I would vote (if I ever voted) to keep Ron, who is basically crippled, because of the other son (the one who is not competing, but started to sob on the movie premier episode — you know who I mean). That brother breaks my heart, and having to live with The Biggest Loser, if it’s your brother, has got to suck. That poor kid.

  8. Mike’s cockiness annoys me. I called in to keep Ron.

And sorry, folks. I’m with Scott on the Helen vote.

  9. Jen, I agree I am so sad for the other brother. It breaks my heart.

  10. I fail to see how non BL fans – such as myself – and Trekies are connected.

  11. Dan H., funny coming from someone who walks around the house singing, “What have you done today to make you feel proud?” all the time.

    BTW, worst theme song EVER.

  12. What game are we talking about here? Those guys both look really out of shape. If I was their coach I would make them run laps all practice before I even put them in the game.

  13. I am torn on this vote. First of all, I want Tara to win it all. I am with Amy, anyone with that much determination and fight deserves to win. I also like that everyone has been against her the entire show and she still kicks everyone’s butt. That being said, I don’t like the brown team. I would love to see Ron make it to the finale just because he wants Mike to be there so bad. At the same time, I don’t want Mike to win the $100,000. However, if Mike makes it to the finale, he has a good chance of beating Tara. Best case scenerio would be Mike makes it to the finale, Tara wins the $250K and Felipe wins the $100K.

    No comment on Helen.

  14. I really didn’t think Helen would win. But she did. Is she annoying? Yes. Did she abandon her daughter? Yes. Did Helen’s daughter then get into some trouble with the law? Yes. Still Mike and Tara bug me more. I was happy with the outcome. I was a little surprised to see how much hatred there was for Helen.

Tara really was amazing and won almost every challenge. She was never below the yellow line. Maybe she deserved to win.

Jen, yes the other brother is so sad! Aimee says they should have him on next season. I’m not sure that he wants it bad enough.

So how about Jerry? That was a shocker. Did you see him up there though? He might even be crazier than Joelle. No, she was still weirder than ever. I was sad that Kristin was SO close but didn’t take the $100k. She looked great though.

You know what else was sad? Them parading those two girls and treating them like circus freaks and having people vote who gets to be on next season.

    Dan, EXACTLY!

  15. Nice wrap up, Scott.

I am hoping they will surprise the brother and get him going next season. Both your dad and your brother go and get skinny while you stay home and remain fat. Sad. Rude NBC. Rude.

And the circus with the next season girls – I had to look away.

  16. Sorry for the late comment. Does anybody else find that BL is unnecesarily long? Did the finale really have to go 3 hours? Does it bother you that they recap the first half of each episode at the hour break even though you just watched what happened, as if your short term memory can’t accomodate for one commercial break? I feel like BL is made for stupid people, it goes nice and slow so you can keep up and makes sure to repeat everything at least three times. I also agree that the vote for the next season’s contestants was awful. Of course America was swayed by a sob story about the prom. I might not watch next season. Kidding, I have no will power against reality TV.

  17. [...] Who would you keep in the game? Ron or Mike? You voted to keep Mike in the game. America voted to keep Mike in the game. Helen won the game. She was my pick, and although she was annoying, Mike and Tara’s cockiness bugged me more. Think about this, if Mike would not have been voted into the finals he would have beat Jerry and won $100,000. Hmm. And yes, Mariana, BL is way too long. They show the same thing like 5 times and I hate the drama they put in before they go to a commercial break. [...]
